The Latest News from The Coalition Summer of 2019 brought slight declines in water quality The slight decline in water quality conditions measured in Buzzards Bay last summer offers a stark reminder about the impact of land development, outdated infrastructure, and climate change on the health of the Bay. Coalition researchers will be working in salt marshes around Buzzards Bay this summer to better understand the causes of salt marsh loss and develop strategies to save these essential coastal habitats. The newly renovated Onset Bathhouse is ready to open in July, serving as a base of operations for a full slate of free summer programs for children, adults, and families. All of Buzzards Bay’s beaches are special. But a few stand out as particularly great destinations to enjoy sand, salt, and surf. Here are ten beaches we love, listed in order from west to east. Run the Falmouth Road Race At Home Edition The first Falmouth Road Race At Home Edition kicks off on Aug. 16, and you can be a part of it with Team Buzzards Bay. It's a great way to get into a fitness routine and do something good for the environment at the same time. Don't want to run or walk? You can still make a donation to our team! Be A Baywatcher Play an important role in protecting the Bay by joining the Baywatchers. The folks who participate in this renowned program monitor water quality measures at a designated location one morning per week from May to September. The data that Baywatchers collect is essential to guiding water protection initiatives of the Coalition and our network of partners throughout the region.
